One in three people are not using Windows update
Almost one in three people are leaving themselves wide open to security holes in Windows by not switching on automatic updates within the Windows Security panel.
This means that they are missing out on crucial patches which Microsoft routinely provides to update critical flaws found within their operating system. This is especially important to Windows Vista owners since the system is so new and has already received several important security updates.
By ensuring that your PC is set to receive automatic updates you are not only protecting yourself from hackers but also protecting others, by not allowing your machine to be used as a seed computer to distribute malware, viruses and spam to others connected to the network.
To check to see if you have automatic updates switched on you can either look within the security settings of the control panel or alternatively, click on Windows Update within Internet Explorer, under the tools menu.
